Ms Julia McLachlan
PhD Candidate and Designer and Professional Landscape Architect
After completing a Bachelor of Architecture degree at University of Witwatersrand, Julia worked in this field in Singapore for 15 years where she developed an interest Water Sensitive Urban Design. Since returning to South Africa to pursue her interests in WSUD, she obtained degrees in Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Urban Design from the University of Cape Town. She is currently a PhD candidate with UCT’s Future Water institute, researching how Cape Town’s engineered stormwater ponds could be more effectively integrated into the urban landscape as part of water-related spatial systems.
