Ms Sibahlesonke Mcanyana

MSc Student

Sibahle is a passionate environmental scientist with a Bachelor of Science Honours in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Hydrology, both earned at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her career journey includes working at the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) under the Groen Sebenza programme as an Ecological Infrastructure Officer. In this role, she supported the implementation of the Ecological Infrastructure for Water Security Project in the Greater uMngeni Catchment, KwaZulu-Natal. She also has experience as a Research Intern under the Water Graduate Employability Programme, where she focused on water quality management systems. 


Sibahle's research interests lie at the intersection of people and the environment. Her research interests include exploring community-based environmental management,  communities response to climate change, and fostering harmony between built and ecological infrastructure. She is also interested in uncovering innovative solutions to address water security challenges, ensuring a sustainable future for all.
