Ms Miriam Arinaitwe

PhD Candidate

Miriam is a dedicated and skilled Water Resources Engineer and Hydrologist with six years of professional experience in hydrological studies, hydraulic design, hydrogeological assessments, and water systems design. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, Uganda, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering at UCT, where she is focusing on innovative solutions for sustainable groundwater management. 

Her doctoral work integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and remote sensing with advanced hydrological modelling to address critical water resource challenges in South Africa. Her research focusses on enhancing decision-making, facilitating data sharing, and promoting adaptive management strategies to build resilience to climate change. Miriam’s work exemplifies her commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative solutions for water resource management.
